WASHINGTON, D.C., October 20, 2026 – (KOREWIRE) — The Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA) today opens its third annual Regulated Investment Crowdfunding Summit, bringing industry leaders, regulators, entrepreneurs and investors to Washington, D.C., for two days of advocacy, networking and discussion. The October 20–21 event centers on “Investor Outcomes and Crowdfunding in an Era of AI,” with conference programming at the National Union Building and free online viewing on Wednesday.
The Summit marks the tenth anniversary year of Regulation Crowdfunding, which took effect in 2016. Participants will examine investor and entrepreneur outcomes, the evolution of capital-raising frameworks, and the opportunities and risks artificial intelligence presents for the industry’s next decade.
“Ten years after Regulation Crowdfunding became operational, the conversation is evolving beyond simply expanding access to capital,” said Brian Belley, 2026 President of the CfPA and Chief Technology Officer of Kingscrowd. “We need to focus on improving outcomes for investors and entrepreneurs, strengthening confidence in the market, and understanding how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence can support responsible innovation. The Summit brings together the people building, using, and regulating these markets to help shape that future.”
Regulatory perspectives and industry discussion
Wednesday’s program includes a conversation with Sebastian Gomez Abero, Deputy Director, Legal and Regulatory Policy, Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and a FINRA session with James Murphy on funding portals in an era of AI.
Kingscrowd Chief Executive Officer Chris Lustrino will deliver a prerecorded State of the Industry overview.
Among the speakers and moderators are Aaron Klein of the Brookings Institution; CfPA Chair Jenny Kassan of CurrentShift Legal; Sara Hanks and Andrew Stephenson of CrowdCheck; and Brian Korn of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP. CfPA Vice Chairs Scott McIntyre of WEconomy and Brian Christie of BioTech Funding Portal will moderate sessions, alongside fellow moderators Jason Fishman of Digital Niche Agency and Devin Thorpe of The SuperCrowd.
Sessions will cover compliance and investor relations, side-by-side offerings, innovative financing structures, the exempt offering framework, sequencing capital raises, community-based capital formation, and AI’s potential effects on trust, diligence and investor protection. The program also includes the 2026 CfPA Industry Awards.
